Style frames for WIYULD

Kinda thought this would be a good opportunity to show my work breakdown for projects like this. The first step is usually finding a look my client likes by giving them a few style frames to choose from (#4 was the winner)

Clients usually give me a rough idea of what they want and things they like. I try to incorporate those into designs that also complement my personal taste (we decided on smol Evann and I'm glad. That was my favorite)

Once we agree to a specific look, I move ahead to storyboarding/animatic (for this project from design to boards, it took a little over 1.5 weeks). For music videos boards, I take in ideas from the musician and add them to my interpretations of the lyrics

Once the boards are approved, it's time to animate
Here's a few of my favorite process loops and animation tests (I'm a very lazy animator so if I can get away with transforming a character for eases, I'll do it haha)

This one is animated by the lovely Julie Kim ( http://www.juliebkim.com/ ) and was inspired by a viewing of the Breakfast Club lol

Before I forget, here's the Vimeo link for the video

All those loops and tweenssss

Here's the last scene (25) with the camera. By this point, it's been another 2.5 weeks so a total of 4 weeks now. I send in-progress versions to my client to make sure we're on track.

Since I hired a few friends to help me meet my deadline, I made a spread sheet of our shot breakdown. Take a peak into the madness of my mind lol

Once animation is done, time for final comp! Here's where all the magic of color, effects and any final notes come in. This usually takes me a week because render time from After Effects is a draggg (did I mention I animate everything in Flash? lol)

By this point, the client is pretty happy and I send over the final renders/assets. I like to throw in a few fun stuff if I have time like trailers or promotional stills. Most importantly, I send in my invoice heh
(always remember to have a contract! and get paid!)

Overall, this specific music video took about 5 weeks. I'm very thankful for my friends @RenegadeTokki and @EviPineschi for helping me out. I'm honestly pretty proud of what we made and hope this thread helps out any animators out there
