Sane is one the most exciting U24 wingers in the world and has just moved to German giants, Bayern Munich. Today I’m going to analyse his weaknesses and strengths as well as talking about how he’ll fit into Bayern. Let’s start!
In this thread I will talk about:
-Attributes Sane possesses
-Attributes Sane needs to improve on
-Sane’s stats (graphically)
-How Sane will fit into Bayern

Attributes Sane possesses:
Let’s start with his speed. Sane clocked a top speed of 34.692 km/h against Huddersfield last season. This was the 7th fastest top speed recorded in the league. If that isn’t enough to show how fast he is, look at this video.

Now let’s move on to his dribbling. Sane in 18/19 completed 2.9 dribbles P90 giving him a success rate of 57.7%. In comparison, Gnabry this season completes 2.44 P90 at a success rate of 57.1%. With Mahrez’s being at 2.82 dribbles completed P90 with a success rate of 63.9%.
Sane is an exception dribbler and would be Bayern’s best dribbler by far. The German does not rely on techniques like stepovers and etc. His dribbling is pure. His great body softness, coordinations, elasticity, agility and balance makes him so unique in his dribbling. Look!
Sane’s finishing is insane for someone so young. Sane in 18/19 scored 0.48 goals P90. Incredible output but when you see his xG is at 0.28 P90, it’s scary. This shows he’s shooting from ridiculous positions and still scoring. His finishing is one of the best for a PL winger.
He had a 42% chance of scoring a goal for every shot on target which is crazy good. In comparison, Lewa this season has a 49% chance of scoring for every shot on target with Gnabry at 30%. If that isn’t proof he can shoot then look at this video.
Sane has great creativity as well. His last two full seasons in the PL have equaled to 25 assists. That’s one of the best assist records in the league. His xA suggests 13 assists but that isn’t a problem because both City and Bayern have great finishers.
Sane is definitely very careful with his passes. His key passes from 18/19 are at 1.74 P90 which would be the 2nd best in the Bayern team. We have gathered that Sane is a high output winger which Bayern really lack as it’s only Gnabry doing the output.
Sane is also great at finding space and moving into it. He does this when dribbling a lot. He seems to always find somewhere to dribble when he looks like he’ll lose it. His football IQ for a U24 winger is very high. Playing with Pep has definitely helped.
Sane is also so good because of his physique. His fast, tall, strong and etc. He’s the perfect athlete for someone who’s a winger. Almost how Ronaldo is the perfect athlete. Obviously Ronaldo is on a different level but the similarities are there.
Attributes Sane needs to improve on: Sane can seem to look fazed by the results. When his team is losing he seems to rushs things as well as force things. His crossing P90 when winning is at 29.38% and when losing it’s at 8% P90. He always runs less. Mentality problem maybe?
Sane has a really poor weak right foot. This makes him very predictable in some situations. He also tends to shoot too much when there’s a pass available. Decision making can improve a lot. Sane is terrible at tracking defensive runs. He is lazy when it comes to defensive work.
Lacks concentration a lot when defending and can be a massive weak line in Bayern’s defensive setup because of his poor attitude when asked to defend. This is the main reason he was dropped during the 2018/19 season for B. Sliva. He needs to be a massive output player or defend.
Sane’s stats (graphically):
Here are two graphs. The first one is only about Sane and the other compares him to current Bayern wingers.

How Sane will fit into Bayern:
Exbit 1: In this lineup I have put Sane at LW. I’m sure all Bayern fans think that’s his best position. For me it’s not. Sane plays LW for City because it would present a complex issue that mingles with the team’s tactics if he played at RW.

Pep did not play with inverted winger at the time and had Sane hugging the touch line. If Sane played at LW it wouldn’t work imo. Davies does the job of hugging the touch line and operates where Sane operates. I don’t think it’s a great pairing.
Sane won’t help out by tracking runs and helping out defensively when Davies goes forward as well. It’s not the case of both are very very good players so let’s play them together. It could work but imo it won’t.
Exbit 2: I have now put Sane at RW. He hasn’t played here since he last was in Germany but I think it’s perfect. Has the ability to cut in here and shoot and let’s Bayern play with inverted winger like they have been this season.
Pavard going forward less means Sane doesn’t have to defend as much as well. Sane was also depend on Sliva who is left footed to feed him ball. Bayern don’t have any left footed midfielder making it difficult to feed him as much on the left. RW suits his game way more imo.
My opinion: For me this move will be the best deal of the decade that’s below 55 million. Sane adds so much to this team and solves Bayern’s winger issues (RW especially with Gnabry on the left). They have two winger with high high output.
They have the best starting XI in Europe and have added even more to it. This team is becoming scary...
