Younger people in media, because of how little upward mobility they see in wages and responsibility, don& #39;t have this ossified sense of infallibility that the wealthy landed gentry of New York media are so accustomed to.
Unemployment leaves plenty of time for personal reflection and emotional growth, doesn& #39;t it?
If you& #39;re, say, Noam Chomsky or Matthew Yglesias, you& #39;ve been rewarded time and time again for intellectual rigidity, stubbornness, and arrogance. When the system pushes back on that, it must be pretty terrifying.
Those of us standing against the Harper& #39;s letter are actually more interested in listening than the signatories of that letter. We& #39;ve been listening to these people for decades. It& #39;s time they start listening to us.
