White supremacists in the anti-abortion movement have been working hard to erase our contributions to making abortion accessible for Black and Brown people. It’s anti-Blackness and revisionist history at its core. Reproductive justice is our birthright. https://www.salon.com/2014/02/25/whitewashing_reproductive_rights_how_black_activists_get_erased/
If they can push this narrative, they can continue to push the idea that Black people are not able to make decisions for themselves, but also a danger to themselves if abortion is accessible. They’re rewriting us out of our own story & saying we’re unable to think for ourselves.
For years they’ve been cultivating Black men to spout the misogynoir that is the basis of anti-abortion organizing. It’s all based on hating Black and Brown people for pro-creating—or not—on our own terms. It’s about control and conformity. It’s all racist plain and simple.
You’re going to see more of that sliver of Trump supporting Black men saying these ridiculous things about abortion & trans folks because they’re being asked to denigrate Black women & trans folks. This is a tactic they’re using to create a divide in the movement for Black lives.
This is why it’s very important that men of color speak out in support of all Black folks and our bodily autonomy—whether it’s to decide to continue a pregnancy or not or live according to a person’s freest gender presentation.

We need freedom for all Black people to thrive.
