THREAD: DeSean Jackson's IG posts are so problematic that I needed to talk about it—especially in the sunlight of the Black Lives Matter moment in America.
This cancel culture trash is just that.

If your favorite people are being canceled, it’s because they are ignorant at best and hateful at worst.

Neither is a permissible excuse. Read a book. Investigate what you believe. Be done playing ball with these Grocks.
The headline to this ESPN story is Eagles Jackson after posts: I don’t hate Jews.
That’s the flag on the play, and, like 2019 OU-Texas, we’ve yet to even start in on everything DeSean Jackson thought he was right about when he shared posts to the more than 1.4 million people who follow him on Instagram (910,000 on Twitter) that featured a quote attributed to
Adolf Hitler that said white Jews “will blackmail America. [They] will extort America, their plan for world domination won’t work if the Negroes know who they were.”
And he didn’t stop there.
He managed to fumble again before reaching the goal line when he share two more posts on IG on Saturday and Monday that revealed his admiration for Louis Farrakhan—a man who both the Anti-Defamation League and Southern Poverty Law Center view as anti-Semitic.
His ignorance is damning. His ignorance is infuriating. His use of his platform in that way is his right according to the first amendment of the Constitution of these United States. That right, however, does not protect you from being smoked by all those with a single clue.
And we must speak on this because, as Ella Wheeler Wilcox wrote, “To sin by silence, when we should protest, makes cowards out of men.”
She is echoed by Mary Shelley who wrote in her novel, “Lodore,”
“Words have more power than any one can guess; it is by words that the world’s great fight, now in these civilized times, is carried on; I never hesitated to use them, when I fought any battle for the miserable and oppressed.”
He deleted the posts. Never mind those posts offended Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeff Lurie and general manager Howie Roseman, both of whom are Jewish.
Never mind his apology to them and his public one on IG where he claimed not to know he was quoting Hitler’s hatred or that he doesn’t hate the Jewish community.
