Some random advice for folks entering the workplace

1) you’re probs going to hate your first job
2) when you get your second job, find a good boss
3) being right isn’t a bulletproof vest
4) don’t get good at PowerPoint
5) it’s just a job
6) The CFA is a grift
7) HR’s job is to protect the company, not you
8) There’s no such thing as anonymous feedback
9) Not being an asshole goes a long way
10) Work drinks aren’t the same as drinking w/ friends
11) Keep it in your pants
12) You’re going to have a bad boss, don’t pick up their habits
13) Money’s important but shouldn’t be the driving force
14) That said, a fancy title doesn’t pay the rent
15) Managment is monitoring all your communication
16) No one in their early 20’s has a career path
17) Job satisfaction ebbs & flows
18) You don’t owe the company anything
19) Your coworker’s succes isn’t your failure
20) Never say work wife/husband/spouse
21) Think twice about running back to school
22) You’re going to screw up, everyone does
23) work gossip is bad
24) Don’t internalize everything
25) Be an ally
26) Life’s not fair & sometimes the bad guys win
27) Mentors a good and necessary
28) Learn how to say no
29) You don’t have to love your job but you shouldn’t hate it
30) Burning bridges isn’t worth it
