ok so since castlevania grimoire of souls is shutting down before ever getting released outside of canada, here's a thread of all the new art done for it, both the character portraits done by kojima (presumably, there are no credits) and the new artwork done for the armor

this is seward, one of two characters introduced in the game. he shows up in some scenes and i don't remember why. this is his only portrait

lucy! main character introduced here, basically the mascot of the game, she gives you your login bonuses and stuff. she and alucard live together after she sends him a letter saying she needs his help stopping dracula from coming back or something. i dont remember the plot (1/2)

arikado! he got a new design here that may or not be based on snape. i wish i was joking

simon just has one portrait, but his main artwork is actually the only new one, since all the others are reused from harmony of despair and he used his chronicles design there

richter! he was just in there as an assist, where you'd call him for a HYDRO STORM

maria! both marias were actually in the game, although only young maria was playable

sotn maria wasn't initially in the game, but her portrait was in the files early on. 3rd here is what it looked like at first, the first 2 replaced it in the update where she was added. you could summon her for a "4 sacred beasts" assist like the one she gives richter in sotn

my fave, shanoa! she just has 2 portraits... which are the same one facing different directions
in the game's story, these aren't technically the actual characters (except alucard), but recreations of them based on when they fought dracula, so she's still emotionless

albus was also an assist, marking the first time kojima drew him for a game

jonathan! as one of the many people who didn't care for portrait of ruin's art, seeing his new portraits made me very happy, i really love the first one here in particular. he used aura blast as an assist

finally, charlotte! she had a new play style here, kind of a mega man style thing where she'd shoot little bullets out of her books. her scenes were some of my favorites, they played up her sort of cockiness in a really fun way, i recommend checking out her intro scene at least

the armor art next! these will just be the 5 star ones, there's artwork for all of them but only the 5 stars depict characters from the games. there was an "ocelot beret" though so adding that here just so you can all remember ocelot's weird meowing

all the armors have unique names, these 4 are
1. assassin's necklace (yoko)
2. stella's locket (stella and loretta)
3. aegis shield (shanoa)
4. brisingamen (sypha)
a rare depiction of sypha in any modern non-netflix content! so that's cool to see

1. simon's bandana (simon)
2. eversing gauntlets (soma)
3. black gauntlet (hector)
4. bracelets of brotherhood (juste and maxim)
as you can see from the title screen, soma was going to be playable eventually but the game didn't last that long. this and a boss fight is all he got

1. judgment ring (shanoa)
2. omnia vanitas (julius)
3. death's robe (death)
4. mina's talisman (mina)
there were actually unused voice files calling mina, so she was probably going to be soma's assist.
hammer too, marking the third time he's had forever unused data in a game

finally, young maria has this really nice piece based on rondo of blood's style, called "four sacred beasts protection"
and adult maria has this one that was never used. not sure if it has a name, nor do i recognize the other character here. if anyone knows either lmk

also one thing i missed when i was showing all the new art: there actually was ONE more original character, a new villain named hermina
she only talked in soma's boss fight so this is the only picture of her

now for some extra stuff i just wanted to add for fun
trevor was going to be an assist, but he had no portraits to post here. he does have a model though with this humongous axe, as well as one really funny voice clip

shanoa and maria had cats as one of their subweapons, which means you could get cats in the gacha that all had unique descriptions. heres a few of them

relatedly, one of shanoa's home screen animations has her playing with a cat. enjoy a full 140 seconds of shanoa and this cat

there were skins for everyone, some just colors but everyone got at least one majorly different one
simon got his chronicles design, maria her dxc design, and shanoa an original one inspired by her nun outfit from judgment
(there were also accessories as you can see from maria)

all the characters got new english voices! they were of... varying quality, but i liked alucard and maria's both a lot. i'd say i like alucard's more than the newer one he had in dxc/judgment/smash, here's a few clips
almost all of these are unused, including all the attack calls

you can see a coffin on the right side of the home screen, implying arikado sleeps in it

and on one final note, to ruin your day
there are several unused skins, all with their own unique names and descriptions
this is one of alucard's
