#SEVENTEEN 's Achievements from Debut Until May 24, 2020

- a much needed (long) thread to help non-Carats and other Kpop fans recognize that @pledis_17 is already a successful group even before BigHit became their company's major shareholder
1) Seventeen had their debut aired live on a one-hour broadcast on MBC, making them the first male Kpop group to do so.
2) Their first EP <17 Carat> was the only rookie album on "Billboard's 10 Best K-pop Albums of 2015" and became the longest-charting K-pop album of the year in the US. Member and vocal team leader Woozi wass the main producer for 4 out of the 5 songs in the album.
3) Only a week into their debut, they already charted at #9 on Billboard World Albums
4) Their first comeback with second EP <Boys Be> became the highest-selling rookie album of 2015, placing #15 on Gaon. Woozi was again the main producer for 4 out of the 5 songs in the album.
5) With only 2 mini albums, <17 Carat> and <Boys Be> - they already sold 160K units and were already named super rookies by several award shows
Gaon Chart Music Awards: World Rookie / ROTY

9) Despite the domestic success, Seventeen's <Love&Letter> also topped the weekly pop album chart for the week of May 9 for Oricon, Japan's biggest sales site.
10) Seventeen got their first music show win on May 4, 2016 with <Pretty U>, the title track for <Love&Letter>. They were up against bigger groups in the industry such as Vixx and Block B, as well as soloist Jung Eun Ji, and the even-then-already-popular group Twice.
11) On July 4, Seventeen released <Love&Letter Repackage> with Aju Nice as the title track. The album ranked #1 on both Hanteo and Synnara for the daily sales on July 9. Woozi is the main producer for 4 out of the 5 added songs.

Seventeen has been recognized for their live performance and stages, and there's a reason for that. https://twitter.com/stngguk/status/1278999906338910209
Pledis confirmed #Seventeen 's comeback with #Henggarae on May 28, 3 days after the confirmation of Bighit becoming their major shareholder. ++
This is only an assumption but Big Hit did not seem very involved in the comeback, except for the live stage sets and the backup dancers that actually danced with svt for the first time since debut. Their previous backups used to dance only during the intros.
Again, #Seventeen 's comeback with #Henggarae was confirmed by Pledis only after 3 DAYS since the confirmation of BigHit being their major shareholder. The preorder for the album started on June 8, exactly 2 weeks after the BigHit news. ++
And Pledis reported that stock preorders already reached 1.06M on June 12. Even with 2 weeks, the news still resulted to mixed reactions but I am very sure that no one would buy a group's album simply because they're now under BigHit Labels.
Unless this was the year 2015, BigHit did not acquire Pledis for charity, to save it from bankruptcy. ++
#Seventeen already saved their company when they sold over 160K on their first year, when they sold out their concerts within minutes, when they reached 1M total sales in Gaon with only 4 EPs and 1 full album, when all their JP albums & singles sold over 100K+ in Oricon.
Looking at it from a business perspective, BigHit wanted a share of those numbers. Seventeen is one of the most profitable groups, they're the humblest, their fans are extremely rich that Pledis banned gifts, + the company has no need to buy songs, Seventeen makes them themselves
All 13 members have worked so hard and gave their 526% effort to deliver what they think their fans could be proud of. Seventeen has accomplished a lot in their 5 years, the world just wasn't paying attention. ++
I admit one reason for this might be bec Carats are so quietly celebrating every achievement. But the only reason we're not loud is for us to not look boastful; it's because we fear that what we do might reflect negatively on the boys, who are known to be an unproblematic group.
Stanning Seventeen or even just growing interested of them simply because they're now under BigHit Labels is completely fine, there's nothing wrong with that. But please don't think that everything they will accomplish from now on is all because of BH. ++
For one month since BH acquired Pledis, SVT has accomplished a lot. Still, aside from the mvs getting posted in BH's channel, & the obviously higher budget stage sets, & maybe their additional cars and dorm rooms, there is no evidence of BH doing something for them or their music
---End.
Ok no, it's not the End. Because apparently, even though May 24, 2020 has ended, #Seventeen 's list of achievements until that day has no end. More slaps-in-their-faces will follow.
