I& #39;m sure it& #39;s just a coincidence that the Mitch McConnell-allied dark money group is ceasing its ad run in the Kentucky Senate race right before its spending would have to be reported to the FEC.
Then days later, an affiliated super PAC is picking up the spending. https://twitter.com/MediumBuying/status/1280851986057961472">https://twitter.com/MediumBuy...

For those playing along at home, this is how dark money groups get away with election activity under the guise of "social welfare." They spend heavily on thinly-veiled political ads during periods when such spending doesn& #39;t have to be reported to the FEC.
Then when the FEC reporting window opens, they either switch to openly supporting or opposing the candidates they were running ads about before--because, hey, they& #39;re going to have to report it anyway--or a super PAC run by the exact same people does so https://www.opensecrets.org/news/2014/11/as-fec-window-opened-subjects-of-dark-money-issue-ads-became-targets-for-defeat/">https://www.opensecrets.org/news/2014...
Then, long after the election, when they file their tax returns with the IRS, they count all the stealth political ads as "educational" or "grassroots issue advocacy" knowing that the IRS is never actually going to investigate them.
