feel like i have to say: everyone is well within their right to be upset with abby for killing joel. i’m upset with abby for killing joel. but it’s important to recognise that she is far from an evil person or a shitty character just because of that

people seem to forget that killing joel makes her feel worse than she did when he was alive. killing joel doesn’t fix her or make her feel whole again, the game is explicitly telling you that killing joel was an awful choice and that she shouldn’t have done it

her whole journey is abby learning that killing joel wasn’t the solution to her problems, helping people like yara and lev was. she’s a good person, but she made an awful choice that broke her emotionally

i miss joel, losing him genuinely hit harder than some of the real life loss i’ve experienced, but tlou is a series about forgiveness and redemption. hating abby regardless of her own redemption completely goes against what the whole series is about

i genuinely think that if given the choice, abby wouldn’t kill joel again. that should speak volumes about her character
