Would be nice if @ajc editorial board cared about Black children year-round. When their parents are being profiled and snatched up by police. When they don’t have healthcare or adequate education. When they are disproportionately harmed by violence from the general assembly. https://twitter.com/bluestein/status/1280480915492417536
This is logical next step from folks who have been waiting to validate rhetoric coming from Buckhead. When an armed white man drove through protesters and fired a shot a few weeks ago, @ajc buried that deep in the text. To use this child’s death in this way is shameful.
When protesters were kettled in Centennial Park before curfew so that they could be brutalized and arrested en masse after 9pm, there was no call for the violence, tear gas and rubber bullets to stop.
I guess it’s fitting that the love child of the two papers that arguably lit the flame of the 1906 Race Riots in Atlanta to again rise to the challenge of providing unthoughtful, alarmist content that does more harm than good.
And one last thing, @ajc, people in GA’s jails and prisons are still suffering with and dying from COVID. A bit of light on that regularly would also reflect a genuine concern for human dignity.
