Ordered a menstrual cup. You know what this means? I’m about to give you guys step by step updates on my experience of it.

Which reminds me I owe you guys an update on my IUCD. No one asked for it. But imma give it anyway!

So asked around on twitter and was directed to http://Reclaim.ng on Instagram. Customer service 11/10! So warm and bubbly. Loved it.
They have a small and a large. I got two larges cause I know my flow is usually heavy and I stand for long hours. They cost N4,500 each.

Ordered Monday but couldn’t pay cause GTB was messing up (shock and awe!) Paid this morning and I’ve been informed that delivery should happen this afternoon. Not holding my breath cause it’s raining cats and dogs so I’ll probably get it tomorrow.
Poor delivery guys man!

Turns out I ordered a small and a large. Just remembered I changed my mind halfway through my order.

They sent instructions and I’m watching YouTube videos. Gonna practice inserting it before my period starts cause I don’t want to be fighting blood and learning how to use at the same time.

Gonna soak it in alcohol then hot water to disinfect.

My period comes in day or so

INSERTION! My period hasn't started yet so I decided to test insertion. Sterilized the cup with hot water and then off to youtube to get a video.
I used the large cup cause I have a heavy flow so that's the cup I will probably use the most. Plus my sister wanted the small cup.

I did a "base fold" and pretty much shoved it in using just water. It felt hella weird and I think cause it's a large it was a little uncomfortable . I didn't push it in far enough at first so as soon as I put my foot down I could feel it at the entrance(?) of my vagina lol

So I went back in and pushed it up. It didn't immediately unfold so I did what the video suggested and twisted the base around till it felt rounded.
Now I'm laying in bed typing this update and honestly it's not bad. I can feel the stem so maybe I need to push it higher up?

Okay just pushed it higher up and it definitely feels more comfortable. Pushing it was hard cause it's created a vacuum. Also I can feel the cup itself inside my vagina but as this is the first time I'm using it, I'm not surprised. Gonna order a small and see if that's better.

I'm gonna leave it in for about 15 minutes and then attempt to take it out.

TEN DAYS AFTER... this bitch ass period has shown up! Praise Yemoja cause I was not ready to deal with puke in my hair! I am natural now and wash day is A LOT longer than when I had Rayne.
Put in the cup 2 hours ago. Pushed it super far up. I feel it but no worse than a tampon

This was a false alarm. It was just some spotting. We’re still expecting Aunt Flo. Wouldn’t it actually be funny if I really was pregnant.

OKAY MY PERIOD IS HERE! She has announced her presence. Gonna go put in the cup. I’m very worried about putting it in after I’m already bleeding. Seems like it’ll be messy but let’s find out yea.

Feels VERY comfortable. Cutting the stem was a good move. Getting it in wasn’t gross at all. Did a half fold this time and it required a bit more twisting to get it to open. I did pee and clean myself before insertion. Wasn’t at all messy. Here’s my hand after lol. That’s water

You should definitely lubricator the cup before insertion, either with water or a water based lubricant. I chose to use water cause I’m lazy.

Alright so I kept in in for about three hours or so and then took it. There were only like three or four drops of blood in there. I held on to the stem and then used one finger to press the cup down to break the vacuum. Emtied it into the toilet, rinsed it and reinserted it.

Okay it’s only been a few hours but I can confidently say that I love the cup and it’s definitely here to stay!
I’ll update in three or four days (the heaviest days of my period).

Just panicked cause I remembered my period start and thought I forgot to wear a tampon lol. That's how comfortable this thing is. I cannot feel it at all. About to do my nightly workout. There's a lot of movement and some burpees so if it's gonna move this is definitely the time
