*Thread* If Islington wonders why some see it as weird and nasty, it need look no further than its most famous political denizen, Corbyn. For more education, turn to Islington Labour councillor Matt Nathan, elected to the council in 2018. Let's start with hate and violence. 1/12

Nathan would have you believe he stands against hatred. No, he lives it. His Twitter account bursts with vulgarity, aggression and abuse. Guillotines galore! 2/12

In May, he called for violent death for the “ruling class”: “Now that 60,000 of us have died needlessly to protect the economic model of the ruling class I can publicly lobby for their bloody end. Rejoice.” 3/12

His thoughts turn to guillotines in other Tweets.

In May, he wrote “It’s unlabour not to have spent lockdown crafting your own guillotine.”

In March, when panic buying was emptying supermarket shelves, he wrote: “I’ll make guillotines if there’s a shortage.” 4/12

Nathan is very fired up because, you know, Tories. They are “bent and literally kill people”. “Fuck.”

“ #StayAlert Tories are in power and they will straight up fucking kill you if there’s money in it. Join a union.” 5/12

Nathan also has violent thoughts about some people in his own party. That “rancid cabal” - “preferably their fucking heads on sticks. #lowerthanvermin”. 6/12

Nathan’s “kinder, gentler” goes right to the top of his party. Keir Starmer is “the pearl clutchers glorious leader”. Nice and simple now - “Fuck it. Sir Basic is fucking shite.” Mind that “sweet sweet forensic juice” as you join “class war”. 7/12

Violent “class war” certainly appeals to Nathan. Not so keen yourself? You must be a “fucking arse biscuit”. 8/12

Nor are the ‘Zionists’ spared, oh no. Here Nathan appears to support Marc Wadsworth earlier this year. Wadsworth is a very controversial figure who was expelled from the party in 2018. 9/12

In his spare time, Nathan directs the “Freedom for Öcalan” campaign, which supports the founder of the Kurdish PKK group. The PKK was proscribed by the UK as a terrorist group in 2001. Its proscription was reaffirmed this year. 11/12

If there is one “red wall” that today’s reforming Labour party should actually love to see crumble, it is Islington. 12/12
