It& #39;s becoming difficult for Tories to stay on Twitter, and I& #39;ve thought about decamping before I& #39;m pushed. I& #39;m not going to do that yet, but I& #39;m aware that simple disagreement with Wokies can lead to a ban. To that end, a few strategies. [1]
Kibitzers and reply guys will be insta-muted, either in the form of a "mute conversation" or (in extremis) muting the individual concerned. [2]
It& #39;s not possible to engage Wokies with facts and reason, and attempts to do so lead to mass-reporting and accusations of racism or various forms of "hate speech" and/or phobias. [3]
Life is too short for this, so I largely won& #39;t bother, and will either ignore or mute FBPE conspiracists, BLM boosters, and people with pronouns in their bio. [4]
In anticipation of social media becoming siloed, I& #39;ve opened an account on Parler, where I& #39;m @HelenDale (no underscore). [5] https://par.pw/download/ ">https://par.pw/download/...
If you& #39;re a lefty or a moderate, be aware that Parler is Twitter in reverse: it& #39;s overwhelmingly dominated by Tories and classical liberals. If you& #39;re a Brit, this probably won& #39;t matter as Tories are politer than Wokies and most liberal lefties. [6]
However, American righties are not like British Tories, & there are a lot of them on Parler. They dish it out as hard as Wokies do, & because nothing is sacred to them, expect to feel pretty poorly if you attempt to raise your race, gender, or & #39;lived experience& #39; as a shield. [7]
As I& #39;ve said to various people on here, I hate the idea of political siloes. However, this seems to be where we& #39;re headed, and given I& #39;m only one individual, there& #39;s nothing I can do about it apart from maintain a presence on both platforms for as long as possible. [8]
More broadly, I think social media was a mistake. Civilisation would improve if all of it were taken into public ownership and shut down. [9]
