During last night protests in Serbia, the police attacked men and women, beat them with sticks, pepper-sprayed them, put their feet on their heads, took their phones... And all of it was broadcast by only ONE TV channel.

SO WE NEED YOU TO SPREAD THE WORD❗❗❗

More in thread 👇🏻
Thousands gathered in front of the parliament building to protest against the dictatorship of one man, president Aleksandar Vučić, after he reintroduced coronavirus lockdown measures he had previously suspended only so he could hold rigged elections.
The police brutality was the worst we've seen in decades. Here is the police beating unarmed men who are peacefuly protesting by SITTING ON A BENCH.
More violence.
Here is a "non-uniformed police officer" slapping a man who is lying on the ground, while pretending to tie his shoes.
One policeman even beat a female journalist reporting on the protests.

An unidentified car that drove into the crowd almost killed another journalist.
During all of it, the public broadcaster paid with our OWN money, with their building located 500m from the protests, was playing a movie on their TV channel. Most of Serbians had no way of seeing and knowing what was happening in their capital city.
More pics from Belgrade.
And here is our fierce, brave, ALL-FEMALE group of journalists, the ONLY one reporting on the protests. They did it for hours, while the police pepper-sprayed them and even tried to stop them from filming.

Thank you for everything, @zaklina_prva @tatjanaaleksic @kuvanikukuruz
For more context, we'll talk about the events that led to this.

Serbians were told the coronavirus was the "most laughable virus in the history of mankind" in February. A journalist who broke the story about shortages of medical equipment was ARRESTED.
We were lied about the number of confirmed cases. The number of dead people (there were 3 times more deaths in 2 months than we were told). The number of ventilators. The state of our hospitals and health care.
After having us in lockdown for more than a month, they told us we had "defeated" the virus and could go to clubs, restaurants, gyms, football and tennis matches... Meanwhile, they held rigged elections and celebrated their "victory" without any masks or social distancing:
Unsurprisingly, things escalated soon after and we are supposed to once again go on lockdown on Friday. Who was blamed? No, not the party officials, who btw got sick after the elections. The blame was put on college students forced to take their exams in the middle of a pandemic.
The news about the lockdown inspired the protests, but don't be fooled.

We are not against staying safe and staying healthy.

We are against them feeding us lies, making fools of us for years, silencing and threatening us, and now playing with our LIVES.

The newest video of their ABSOLUTE BRUTALITY.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Internal Affairs Nebojša Stefanović said the police were very calm and composed tonight and only started to "defend" themselves when their lives were in danger.
Now this is what Serbian police does to their citizens!!!
