In a 2017 review commissioned by @sajidjavid when he was Sec State for Business, Baroness McGregor Smith reported that BME individuals were far more likely to be overqualified than their white counterparts and less likely to be promoted. 3/5
The issue runs deep and where the review called for the publication of aspirational targets, Baroness Smith recently opined at the 2019 CIPD conference that quotas are increasingly looking to be the way forward. 4/5
Political parties need to take action to diversify not only their front benches but also the staff who are briefing them on a daily basis, to afford input that isn't currently there. 5/5
