You know what, "All Cops Are Bastards" is honestly such a beautiful phrase. It literally says exactly what it means. How can ALL cops be bastards, you ask? Because cops are, by definition, bastards. So they're all bad people, you ask? No, if they weren't cops, they might not be!
"What about black cops?"
Still cops, still bastards.
"Well then you don't really mean ALL black lives matter."
Wrong phrase. "All cops are bastards," as the acronym implies, pertains to cops being bastards, not whether lives matter.

"So cops' lives don't matter?"
Depends, do bastards deserve a chance at reform? Awfully nifty to bring that up! If you support the related idea of prison abolition, then yeah maybe. Cops' lives matter just as much as those of any other violent criminal.

Some political movements are complicated. Some are not. "All cops are bastards," is a self-contained ideology. One of the few parts of 2020 that won't be hellishly difficult to explain to the next generation in a couple decades!
Same goes for "Black Lives Matter"! What does it mean? It means that the lives of black people matter. Does it mean that only black lives matter? No. Does it mean that black lives matter more? No. It just fuckin means that black lives matter.
"All lives won't matter until black lives matter" isn't some kind of threat or ultimatum. It's just a statement of logical fact.
Obviously there's social implications outside of the statement itself —associations with reform/revolution, with acab, with prison abolition, with movements for equality and civil rights.
But in itself, black lives matter means that it MATTERS what happens to black lives. It means that if a life is ended or harmed or punished, there is a real loss that cannot just be written off as a foolish mistake like it's the death of your fourth goldfish this month.
At this point the only excuse for ignorance is illiteracy. It's not complicated. It's not deceptive. There's no hidden conspiracy. Black lives matter means black lives matter. To be against it is to explicitly state that you do not care whether black human beings live or die.
Feel free to tack ", you fucking idiot" onto the end of any part of this thread for your reading pleasure
