When you don’t understand how the US legal system works.
‘Oh man it’s a capitalism issue that they can’t use high priced lawyers.’

Lot of the US legal system is reliant on the lawyer you got. You can get free ones yeah, but the ones they give you can be completely shit. Either from being overworked or just not caring.
It’s kinda difficult as well to get your free lawyer switched out. You actually have to have a reason for it. You can’t just tell the judge ‘I don’t like them’ because the judge can say no. Also why would the high priced lawyers do probono work without a big payoff?
A good example of the probono shit was that case with the kid being screeched at by the drumming guy. Here’s a good example of it playing out.
‘Well they should be forced to pick the case.’

Lawyers can not accept clients for a reason. A lot of them don’t pick certain things for whatever reason they might wish. Even if it’s something as small as ‘it will make our law group look bad if we defend this.’
True or false it’s a reflection on the group as well. It’s why big companies tend to have legal teams on retainer for issues they might have. Not every lawyer might not want to help them or could be capable of helping. Very diverse it is.
