For anyone who wants to find their own place and start adulting ... here is a thread for you.
Firstly moving out is expensive. You have to start saving up or buying things before you actually move out. This is not a discussion on rent or bills but more so household items. (Side note: my parents donated a couple of household items which made my life easier)
The biggest expenses are furniture and appliances. You need to do your research and find out the price ranges for the items you want. The great thing about some stores is you can laybye items. Game has that option so you can pay for bigger items slowly.
Another great place to get some good household items is at auctions. Individuals or companies get rid of items there so you can buy some great stuff at a reasonable price. You can buy second hand sofa set and refurbish it( buy material and cover).
There are also various business around town that make furniture. I know at least 2 or 3 guys that make quality items at an affordable price. However these can be tricky and you need items that can last. Do reaearch and customer feedback before committing.
Secondly you need to buy general items like buckets, mops, plates, utensils etc. You obviously need to look around to find prices and all.
Thirdly get a toolkit. You will learn a lot of DYI as you go along. Thank goodness my dad taught us when we were younger how to use tool kits. So at least I can handle that. I have my brother to help with bigger items.
You also need to have a bit of money set aside because after you move in, you may find some things need touch ups. *Depending on your tenenacy agreement* you maybe the one who has to handle the fixing so keep this in mind.
Fourthly its a very emotional journey setting up your own space. I know I had moments where I felt overwhelmed, scared, and alone. Walking into an empty house at the beginning was tough.
But over time Ive put my place together and it looks fairly decent. Not the easiest journey but I learned a lot about myself.
