IMO not enough people are talking about/ advocating against the #StudentBan. Please make noise, sign petitions, call reps, write op-eds, just do something. The silence is suffocating. I will try to add as many resources to this thread as I can. RT.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement has announced that no international student will be able to legally stay in the US with an all-online schedule. If students somehow end up with an online schedule, they either depart/get deported or need to transfer...
This policy was written with ZERO considerations towards the international students. No one should have to choose between consering their health and being deported. And what about graduate students with no classes and only research? There are no blanket accommodations rn.
The #StudentBan can potentially displace ~1.5 MILLION international students during a deadly pandemic. Some students may take diseases back to their communities, some students may not be able to access resources to fulfill educational requirements..
And some students may not be able to cope with online classes in different timezones.
Find your House Rep by simply searching your Zipcode AND CALL THEM SAYING YOU WANT EXEMPTIONS TO SEVP BACK IN PLACE SO STUDENTS CAN FINISH THEIR EDUCATION IN A PROPER MANNER

Take it a couple steps further and reach out to members of the Judiciary Subcommittees of the House and Senate linked below

Academics, I KNOW you, your research, and your institution have benefited from the work of an international student. Now it’s time to rally for them the best way you know how. WRITE OP-EDS FOR YOUR LOCAL NEWSPAPERS, ONLINE NEWS SOURCE, ANYTHING, ANYWHERE. Highlight why...
International students are priceless in your field and the ways in which the institution will suffer if they were displaced. I know it sucks to talk about us only in terms of profitability, but that’s the only language that will get through to the lawmaker.
Everyone— Tweet about it and use the hashtag #StudentBan
Lastly, and I cannot stress these enough:
1. Please educate yourselves on the situation. It’s not the students’ job to educate you. It’s exhausting to relive the anxiety.
2. Check in on your friends/ colleagues/ neighbors/ students affected by this. I promise you..
They are NOT OK.

3. Keep comments like “it’s temporary though, right?” Such statements are insensitive and counterproductive. Be better and more empathetic.
Please feel free to add more resources to this thread if you have any! Things like petitions, phone scripts, email scripts, attorney information are appreciated.
