I can imagine Robert Janes was considered anti social and a threat to the Inuit community. I can imagine Nuqallak was recruited to kill RJ with the help of his accomplices. Nuqallak was known to be violent and most likely was recruited, rather than acting out of anger.
Nuqallak in photos stand during trial, he doesn’t stand feeling guilt and shame when he is accused and does plainly say he did kill RJ. He would’ve believed that his ‘peers’ would find him just in his act.
How is then that Inuit find value in another’s life? Point is, sensless killing was is a crime. Preventing a threat to lives were noble. Everything else in between did not matter much so long as it did not cause death. Taima
