ok obviously i dont care enough about michael compared to gallant but i still think he has some really interesting outlooks + characterization choices that i love because of how much they oppose gallantâs own characterization
there is a lot of similarities between michael and gal but its very overlooked because of how little gallantâs character is developed/explained, meanwhile we see a lot of michaelâs backstory and how he grew up
they. mirror each other so much and i feel like a lot of michaelâs dialogue towards him are just straight up reflections of himself and its kinda like hes just projecting himself onto gallant and he KNOWS gallant is just like him in a way
the obvious common factor is just the way they were raised. michael was neglected a lot and its implied gallant didnt get much direct care eitherâ and them both being raised by people who arent their direct parental figures is something ill point out too-
it really doesnt make too much of a difference on who raised them but evie and constance are both fairly similar (mean hags) but constance seems to have a little more humanity in hereâ she actively did try her best to raise michael and help him but it was too-
out of her reach, meanwhile evie has never really seemed to care about gallant too much and probably never really gave him a chance. anyway.
lets do a breakdown of michaels lines to gallant shall we

took me a hot second to find a transcript but heres the first few lines + the most obvious on why i believe michael reflects himself so much onto gallant
michael had a hell of a childhood from being raised by so many different people in the murder house he never REALLY got a chance to be truly wanted by someone. i dont doubt that constance loved him, i dont doubt that ben wanted to help him, but i also-
dont doubt that after being constantly passed around in custody that he felt like he ever truly was loved by someone. and not to pull a cody stan but it does make me a little sad considering itâs obvious that michael has always been overflowing with love-
and the show did try and paint him as evil, he easily got attached to others. HE apologized to constance after she k/lled herself because HE felt as though her death was his fault. he loved her too much and she loved him not enough to where he felt as though he was-
just a burden to her. i think a lot of error in his relationships came from the fact that he loved so much and the person on the opposite end of it didnt give the same amount of love back to him. he never was cruel to people he loved-
constance, ben, tate, and vivien all rejected him at the point in his life where he still had the potential to change if he had just been taken care of like a normal child and not seen as an evil entity. ofc he was born into the world as evil, but he was never mean to the ones-
he admired. and nes made me think about this earlier, so i rewatched the dialouge between michael in meade in ep 3 and it just proves my point even further that michael is NOT inherently cruel. the very second that meade doubts herself, michael immediately does his best to
make sure she knows that he cares for her and would do anything to protect her, and in response, meade reassures him that she TRULY did love himâ something that michael had been lacking his entire life
