Once upon a time, I was Going Through It™ and a friend asked if they could pray for me. I'd never been asked before, people would tend to just say "you're in my prayers", but it made me think about the idea of someone being prayed for who didn't want it.

Any thoughts on this?
People could not want prayers for many reasons. They don't believe in it, they'd rather something else be done, they might not want that person's help, etc.

Now, for religious believers, prayer can't really do any harm, but shouldn't those who don't want prayers be respected?
Another discussion to be had is when the phrase "I'll pray for you" or similar crosses a line and becomes condescending, bc that's definitely a thing
I might regret this thread in the morning but idk, it's an interesting concept to me. Prayer itself can't really do any harm but disrespecting the wishes or boundaries of someone can.
