There was a point in time when everyone you liked turned out to be a homophobe, too

Old people remember that shit
1980s-1990s was full of “damn it this public figure I liked is a homophobe”

Bigots as a group never learn, so we’re going through the same thing with transphobia, and have been for decades actually (hi Kelsey Grammer)

What blows my mind is that people can’t see the obvious pattern and INSIST on clinging to transphobia with all their might. Like, get a clue https://www.twitter.com/must_sleep_now/status/1280741604899332101
There is one thing that gets bigots to shut up:

Being outnumbered.

That’s why right-wingers gave up on homophobia and pivoted to transphobia.
What we are seeing is literally just a repeat of gay panic, and the talking points haven’t even changed.

If bigots were bigots as a result of rational thought, they wouldn’t follow these patterns. But they don’t actually think. They just pretend to, and hope you fall for it. https://www.twitter.com/AmyDentata/status/1280728823311417345
Bigots hope you are ignorant enough to fall for lazy lies. If you know even a little bit of history, or have even a little experience with the marginalized people they hate, you can see through the bullshit.

Bigots rely on ignorance. Bigotry is not rational.
Bigotry *rationalizes* itself all the time. But bigotry is not rational.
Homophobes from the 80s and 90s also SWORE they had legitimate points and that they would win out in the end, just like transphobes do now. The remaining homophobes today feel that way, too.

Bigotry is the opposite of thinking.
