A THREAD -on how AUC is passive about cases of sexual harassment including those about #ABZ, who previously attended.

The institutions responsible for having him as a student are being questioned in their roles.

AUC did not actively do anything to put a stop to his behavior.
This is the first statement they issued on the matter, it does not address the fact that #ABZ was never banned from campus and was allowed back as a visitor regardless of sexual harassment cases filed against him, which they also did not address.
In the past, AUC has not been clear about what procedures or necessary actions taken are supposed to be when someone gets sexually harassed. This has been an issue long before the #ABZ case, refer to the images below
AUC also does not listen to its students when they express concern and provide suggestions on how to deal with sexual harassment cases. The posts below demonstrate how there is a consensus amongst students that they do not effectively deal with such cases
AUC also plays a role in allowing rape culture to be embraced on their grounds. For example, hiring professors who allegedly have cases of sexual harassment. Below is a screenshot that supports this claim
This would not be the first instance, a philosophy professor who has been continuously tenured by the university for over 20 years allegedly has become a running joke amongst students because of his frequent allusions to sex in lectures as well as his attitude with girls
In light of recent events related to #ABZ, students still persisted in urging the university to take necessary action
An email from the student body was sent directly to the university providing them with suggestions, and highlighting deep concerns. In the midst of everything unfolding, a suspicious troll account appeared on twitter that goes by the username @AntiPcCultureEg
This account repeatedly harassed and targeted students owho turned to twitter to freely express their concerns. We were quick to notice that a “dean of students” account was one of its 4 followers, it was found the Dean of Students and Provost follower followed said account.
After this was brought to students attention,it raised suspicions and was addressed in the previously mentioned email. The “dean of students” account quickly unfollowed this troll account once they were publicly called out on the university Facebook group.
The university was directly questioned about this and all other concerns in an e-mail but also they did not comment on this whatsoever in their “updated statement” attached below, nor did they propose an effective new plan of action or banning #ABZ
Attached are other contributions students of the university provided about their outlook on issues of sexual harassment within AUC and their negligence.
AUC, as a student body we urge you to take matters of sexual harassment seriously as we can see by the #ABZ case that we cannot afford to let cases like these be dealt with inactively and these are pressing matters.
