Asked by Nexstar today what specifically his administration is doing to make sure schools can reopen, Trump did not identify anything. Rather, he simply said "the schools have to open." He also claimed there will be a vaccine "very soon."
Pressed on whether there will be a national testing strategy or at least recommendations to help schools reopen, Trump said, "It may be. We're going to see. Well, we have a long time to think about the school stuff. Because, you know." ???
Pressed on what specifically his admin is doing to help with reopening schools, Trump, after not identifying anything, continued: "I would say that when we talk about the fall, that seems like a long time. It's a long time." (A lot of states' school years begin in August...)
