I’ve seen a lot of founders and folks talking about the “take down” culture happening everywhere. Like maybe entrepreneurs aren’t being treated like rock stars anymore who can do no wrong. I have a thought about this:
What if the qualities it took to really succeed as a VC backed entrepreneur are qualities that are falling out of favor...because they should? That what it takes to build a high growth winner takes all company is not what it takes to usher in an age of justice?
The need for the rock star status was part of the payoff for the high stakes game of startup life. What if we need a totally new paradigm where, like, acting with integrity, kindness and humanity are what’s required to build the companies we actually need?
Just seems like that paradigm is one in which there are fewer take downs needed because leaders have build trust, admit when they’re wrong and aren’t just huge farts to all their employees?
