I'm laughing at the notion that we all live in some capitalist market paradise where competitive product and service providers compete to make us happy.

Have you tried opening a bank account, purchasing a car, or renting a home recently? Consumer does all the work.
Have you ever talked to a car salesman? The first thing they tell you is "I don't have any cars, I got no cars to sell you." Then you say "ok I'll buy it from somewhere else then" and they hang up the phone like "fuck outta here I'm tryna sell some cars don't have time for this."
I tried opening up a bank account b/c the website had a promotion and I need a new account. The online application process didn't work so I called the bank and they were like "promotion? what promotion? that doesn't sound real. show it to me please."

We're on the phone.
Literally guy said "can you read the promotion to me?" and I read it like "3% cash back on qualifying deposits up to $100/month, with a total of..." and he says "never heard of that one, which website are you at?"

I'm like [yourbank].com and he's like, HUH, WEIRD.
He was like "I don't know about that one, but if you think it's real, I can stay on the phone with you while try the application process again, how's that?"

Literally did it all myself, except now I'm narrating what I'm doing to the CSR (nice guy).
Capitalism is severely overrated.
