Gary Larson falling back in love with cartooning after retiring from The Far Side in 1995 is so sweet and the exact thing we need right now.
The Far Side is such a great example of how you can still be weird and tell super goofy jokes yet appeal to the masses. He always played his jokes the same even when he was the biggest cartoonist in the world. Never pandered. I can't imagine staying true to your vision like that.
I admire what he does so much. Packing in so much humor and character and world building in a single drawing and punchline. Effortlessly funny. A legend.
One of my favorite memories was during an A2CAF weekend going through @IgnatzHaderach Far Side collection with a bunch of other cartoonists and all of us just laughing and admiring his work.
Dying over this story about how Gary Larson thought he offended Jane Goodall with a comic strip and ends with a literal real life Far Side gag happening to him.
