It would be a breath of fresh air if Utah's political leaders took effective action to stem the spread of the virus we've seen since the middle of May. Other states and countries have re-opened during that time frame and also seen the virus not spread in the same way. 1/
What to do? Take meaningful, firm and specific action by legally requiring people to follow the well-accepted recommendations of public health experts. Require masks in public and social distancing. Prohibit public gatherings in numbers of more than a few people. #utpol 2/
Commit to identifying and adopting the best practices in other states and countries who have gotten this pandemic under better control. Stop thinking and talking about mask wearing and social distancing as political statements. Implement them because they are valid science! 3/
Above all, explicitly reject leaders who deny the reality of facts and evidence, who want to wish away this pandemic, and who willfully expose people to death and injury. Reject those who say we just need to learn to live with that destruction. They are failed leaders. 4/
How many times do we have to say it? Implementing effective public health measures to save lives and prevent permanent physical injury will best provide the robust and long-lasting recovery we're all looking for! 5/
Utah's political leaders reflect Trump's refusal to put in place effective measures to protect life and economic growth. They have held us back. And it has cost us lives and a successful re-opening. Reject the idea that what we've seen is the best we can do! #TimeForChange 6/6
