Here y’all go again trying to apply concepts and beliefs from 2020 in order to cancel a dead disabled woman who was only ever exposed to her indigenous heritage and had 0 roots in her European heritage to the point that it made her dysphoric about her own identity https://twitter.com/j3ssc3ja/status/1280408649479921664
I simply do not understand how y’all can frame someone as appropriative for expressing the only sense of culture they ever had any exposure to
I’ve clearly accidentally become an expert on her because so many people wanna believe her upbringing was tarnished by having a white father (who assimilated to her indigenous mother’s culture to the point that he changed his whole name to Mexicanize himself)
If y’all wanna call her out then call her out for her wealth, cause we know damn well disabled people don’t go down in history without a certain status or affiliation to people with status (her husband Diego was better known during their lifetime than she was)
Anyways I’ve already talked about this in length and the closest I ever got to seeing the appropriation mentioned was when someone said she was stealing culture from her wet nurses yet nobody can provide specific examples of that so 🤷‍♀️ https://twitter.com/astro_milf/status/1203782656581931009
I saw someone say she “depicted her nurses poorly” but further research shows that her depiction was actually of masks used by the culture her nurses came from. She also depicts them as literal sources of life for her and as mother figures
And then her mothering/nurturing Diego in the same way. Her “white side” did not “feed her existence”, indigenous women did, those are her roots and the part of her heritage she was literally most connected to and nurtured by
