Hard to pray 5 times a day as a Muslim when you can barely get out of bed or function at times.

Would really like some Muslim mental health professionals to talk about how depression, anxiety, mood disorders etc can affect your ability to fulfill your spiritual practices.
I often just see shaming or dismissive positivity regarding difficulty with spiritual practices. We often have clear accommodations for those who have physical disabilities. I see a big need for addressing mental health issues & spirituality.
Religious leaders are often so bad at talking about the most common (and least but still stigmatized) mental health struggles like depression and anxiety disorder, I can’t even imagine more stigmatized mental health disorder. Hence, why I’m asking for mental health professionals.
I also see how the shaming, “all or nothing” binary of good vs bad Muslim, perfectionism ... show up when folks are struggling with spiritual practices and even more so when it’s due to mental health issues.
By “clear accommodations for people with physical disabilities,” I meant you can pray while sitting or modify prayer movements etc within your capacity. NOT that our mosques, communities and even mainstream theological framing are liberating for folks with physical disabilities.
