@StatCan_eng just posted a report showing that higher grades in school in BC is correlated with greater earnings in one's life, consistent with other research done in this area.

This may be true, but the type of research done here does not establish this claim.
If you compare one variable against another and find a correlation but do not control either variable, one cannot make a claim that one variable causes another.

Higher grades and greater income in one's life can easily be caused by a third factor - one's parent's income level.
This is a subtle way in which the victims of policies that force poverty on people are blamed for their poverty, rather than the policies that caused it. One example of policy that might trap people in poverty is the reduction of income assistance when people work. #BCed #bcpoli
