Smash Camp will never be a Smash World Tour event, and will never be associated with VGBC in any way as long as they are not a Code of Conduct signatory TO. Their failure to cooperate with other TOs presents a threat to our ability to protect our community. Hold them accountable.
The Conduct Panel is effective only in that it empowers other TOs to use their platform and influence to pressure other organizers who enable misconduct. Take for example the Nightmare and Ally cases. The conditions for maintaining signatory status are very reasonable.
TOs hold the sole power to ban players, even if not banned by a panel. TOs have the power to collectively challenge decisions from the panel they do not agree with. Whether you agree with VGBC's decision to shorten Captain Zack's ban or not, their decision to explicitly state...
they are not a signatory TO should give you pause. ESPECIALLY when you take into consideration that the Captain Zack decision explicitly states that TOs can enforce a ban of a different length without jeopardizing signatory status.
It is so frustrating to see the misinformed take that the Conduct Panel exists to decide who gets to play Smash and who doesn't. The engine that makes this work is not Dr. Piggy, it's organizers. Make sure your TO understands what the Code of Conduct empowers them to do.
@VGBootCamp I do not want to speculate as to why you are not a signatory TO, but you owe us an explanation. You have already implicitly enabled so much undue criticism of the Conduct Panel and empowered those who defend abusers. You can do so much. Help us. We need it.
