It will take more than threats to stop me from exposing criminals, especially when the state is involved. Africa Cash & Carry collapsed at the hands of former CEO, Cassem Aysen. With the help of a few individuals at SARS, Aysen evaded tax and stole over R56m from the company.
While running affairs of Africa Cash & Carry, Aysen siphoned large sums of money from ACC without knowledge of shareholders. He started his own company called Continental Cash and Carry. Ex SARS officials Ashruf Pukur (Aysen's lawyer) and Dirk Du Ploy, Chief Auditor at SARS..
Dirk Du Ploy and Pukur helped Aysen buy time to transfer as much money as he possibly could and evade tax. When all this was achieved, Dirk moved into auditing ACC and slapped the company with a tax bill for R1billion, putting the last nail in the coffin.
This coordinated attack on Africa Cash and Carry came at an expense of over 200 ex employees who have lost their jobs. In a report by SARS, Dirk Du ploy recommends that the company not be saved but destroyed. He appears to frustrate the process and block any attempt to save it.
