India’s ruling #BJP presents “Sieg Heil” salute used by Nazis. @BJP4India is political wing of fascist paramilitary #RSS, whose founders/ideologues embraced nationalism, preached supremacy, praised Nazi racial policy, & compared Indian Muslims to German Jews.
This "Sieg Heil" style salute is commonly used during the "National Pledge" made daily by Indian schoolchildren. True. The same salute was once used by American schoolchildren for the "Pledge of Allegiance." But... it was scrapped BECAUSE the salute was adopted by the Nazis.
The raised arm salute was formally scrapped by the US in 1942. It's now widely understood within the country as symbolically linked to the Nazis. India's "National Pledge," however, was introduced in 1963 — 18 years after the Nazis fell. So why was the raised arm salute adopted?
Use of the raised arm salute for India's "National Pledge" deserves to be interrogated & challenged. Yet innocent young Indian schoolchildren obviously don't know the symbolism. Not so innocent RSS/BJP leadership, however, embrace a gesture that synthesizes with their ideology.
This elevated arm salute raised a lot of eyebrows, but some argued that the true "Sieg Heil" salute is actually at a higher angle, above the elbow.

Concerning footage of Indian police in Uttar Pradesh on 15 August shows exactly that.

Notice the heroic non-participating farmer.
