So, anti-left pro-corporate journos with vested interests have been throwing allegations at Kerala CMO's office without any corroboration, trying to make out similarities to the Solar Scam under the UDF government when none exist. What is it that we know so far? Read on. (Thread)
A contract employee working as consultant with the Space Park project under Kerala State Information Technology Infrastructure Limited is suspected to behind a case of gold smuggling using diplomatic channels. She has been dismissed from her post.
The Chief Minister's Principal Secretary, who was also the IT Secretary, was accused of shielding her. He has been removed from both posts pending investigation. If there was any irregularity in her appointment, it will be found out.
There were allegations of phone calls from CMO's office to the Customs department at the behest of the accused. This has been proved to be false after the Customs department rubbished the allegations. CM has offered full cooperation to any central government agency investigation.
Congress-run Malayalam news channel Jai Hind TV runs footage of the suspect whispering into the CM's ear during an official event. This has been proved to be doctored. A case for spreading fake news has been registered against the channel.
Now let's look at the Solar Scam. A solar energy firm duped several investors by accepting advance payments offering to make them business partners or install solar power units, defrauding several agencies and people. Again, the allegations were that CMO's office was involved.
What was the reason for the suspicion? It was proven that 3 officials from the office had made several phone calls to the chief accused. It also came out that several Congress leaders had also done the same, including four cabinet ministers, when a crime branch report got leaked.
An investor who been duped went on the record claiming that he, along with the chief accused, had met the CM, who encouraged him to invest. Further, the chief accused alleged sexual abuse by the CM and other ministers.
The CM initially claimed that he had never met the accused. This was proven to be false when photos of him along with the accused surfaced. To make matters worse, CCTV footage of CMO's office from the day of the chief accused's visit went missing.
The judicial enquiry report tabled in the assembly found that the then CM, through his personal staff (including a long-time aide) assisted the chief accused and her company in enabling them to cheat their customers. The report also remarked about the charges of sexual assault.
The former CM went to court to get the commission's report quashed. Refusing to quash the report, the court expunged all remarks and findings in the report related to the sexual harassment allegation. It observed that these charges do not come under the purview of the commission.
The accused former CM also blurted out at a press conference that he was blackmailed in the case. Police recorded his statement. The investigation is still ongoing.

Now make your own conclusions.
