Until Nov. 2019 I had been in the US for 15 years on visas. 8 of those years were on an F-1. The panicked email I got from a graduate student yesterday reduced me to tears because I know that panic well. I have lived it for 15 years.

I had to leave a TT job because the institution told me that once my visa was up in my 3rd year I would have to quit and reapply for the position...full application, MLA interview, campus visit the whole shebang for a job I already had

Until Nov. 2019 I had been paying full international tuition as the only way to keep my spouse in the country. Academic jobs I couldn’t apply for, fellowships for which my visa status made me ineligible. You all know I never put my personal business #onhere but this is too much

I feel my students’ panic and I don’t know what to do for them. I am #onhere looking for ideas and resources. We must act and with urgency!
