Sharing about a topic that is close to my heart yet very difficult to put down in words- BODY SHAMING. How very easily people on this platform use the words “bhaalu”, “haathi”, “bhains” breaks my heart. #SidharthShukla (1/n)
It really hurts when people use these words without thinking twice about the possible repercussions they could have on an individual. And no, it is not okay ever. Never.

It hurts more because I lost a close one to this very “bodyshaming”. (2/n)
She thought she lived a normal life until she succumbed to the online world where people thought they were cracking “cool” jokes and before we could stop her, she had given up on life.

She gave up because people had set unrealistic standards for her. (3/n)
Society has always set unrealistic standards for both men and women, with people judging them instantly at every move.

I understand, sometimes, its an anger outburst, we don’t mean it, but can we not normalise body shaming? (4/n)
It might not be intentional but it is definitely more hurtful than anybody knows. People do get affected, it does hurt them. Please don't normalise it even if it is your own people, your own fandom and your own friends. Let us not normalise this behaviour. (5/n)
Remember, it is easier to hide behind a façade online and say terrible things than it is to face somebody unknown and say something mean. Remember, it is easier to hurt than to tolerate the same when it comes back at you. (6/n)
And for the rest of you’ll, let us remember that not perfect is beautiful, confident is beautiful, “being you” is beautiful. Don’t let others tell you who you are, ever. I miss you Shruti and I wish we could have saved you. I wish we could. (7/n)
Thanks @Sid_Mania_, the issue this month addressed some of these important issues and that gave me the courage to open up. Thanks @noor_e_hayat for addressing real issues, @sidharth_shukla has always taught us to respect and I am proud to be his fan. (8/n)
I also feel like I may have done wrong at some point of time, maybe I have liked or RT'd some of these posts, or maybe even said something wrong. It is okay to make mistakes, but correct them. Thanks Ajj, for this, this pushed me. (9/n) https://twitter.com/innocent_huntrr/status/1278263601216630784?s=20
Live and let live, don't be keyboard warriors based on convenience. Be warriors each day, defend each day and respect each day. Let us be better versions of ourselves, @sidharth_shukla, thank you for teaching me that. I hope I will one day. (n/n)
