A few movies that have their run at the Academy Awards end up being forgotten in the long run, with no legacy whatsoever (remember The Artist, King's Speech, Green Book?)

I hope 1917 doesn't end up meeting a similar fate, and is celebrated for years, for the masterpiece it is.
There is another scenario where small gems that get a cast, screenwriting or other less-popular category nod, but may not end up winning any, deserve to be recognized for their brilliance nevertheless. Captain Fantastic, First Man, The Wrestler, Nebraska come to mind, among many.
There are movies that transcend award nominations, or independent productions and world cinema jewels that may slip under the Academy's radar every year. Surfing through that universe can be an extremely savory experience for enthusiasts. However this thread isn't about them.
