You know what& #39;s really tedious? Right-wing demagogues saying their political opponents "hate America." It& #39;s always way too much effort to sell the public on your philosophy/program when demonization is so easy.
The present GOP doesn& #39;t have a program/philosophy they have any confidence in selling, nothing they want to build, nothing in our lives they want to improve, and there& #39;s so much hate in what they do want they& #39;re afraid to be honest about it. So they just fling feces at opponents.
The sickest part of Fox types saying Dems/libs hate America is that it& #39;s clear they& #39;re the ones who hate the way it was heading--towards a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, multi-gender, largely secular, inclusive republic. The % we& #39;ve gotten closer to that is the % of their hate.
They dislike that? They& #39;re entitled to an opinion. But where do you go from there? The alternative to a multi-everything America is a white-only, cisgender-only USA, & not only is that repugnant to those who love America for what is/could be, you& #39;d need a time machine to never.
The frightening aspect of Trump, Tucker Carlson et al is that they& #39;ve convinced some large number of us that Imaginary Apartheid America is desirable/possible. You see it on social media every day: First the slur, then "Trump 2020!" Not a coincidence.
The country was never the white guys& #39; paradise they imagine, and to the extent it was it was predicated on human suffering on a massive scale. And the only way to achieve that state of racial purity today would be through human suffering on a massive scale.
