In addition to what is written here let me add a little crucial information about this nonsense response of this MP (they aren& #39;t alone several MP& #39;s have made the same response btw). UC application requires a joint claim (thread 1) https://twitter.com/StaceyGreen06/status/1280216704811855873">https://twitter.com/StaceyGre...
If your partner is seriously unwell (e.g. has the virus) or for any other reason can& #39;t/won& #39;t apply alongside you (and let& #39;s face it this would be the position of those in domestically abusive situations) then you don& #39;t get past the first (thread 2)
Hurdle of a UC application let alone sped up access at a higher rate. So let& #39;s have no more of this false information giving @Jamie4North @AnnelieseDodds @Ed_Miliband please ensure this vital point is raised today at the meeting (thread 3)
Finally, let me just make clear that it& #39;s not OK, morally or otherwise, for MP& #39;s to write cold worded letters (I& #39;ve seen several) to constituents who are expressing serious emotional distress. A direction to the Samaritans is not a substitute (thread 4)
For appropriate representation or appropriate sign posting. It& #39;s not ok to do the bare minimum to cover your butt just in case the worst comes to the worst for that person, shame on you if you& #39;ve done that (I& #39;ve seen too many of those letters) (thread 5)
Any MP who would like to pick up this crucial point (how to speak/write appropriately to constituents in this situation/level of distress) please feel free to pick up from where this thread leaves off (I& #39;d be happy to assist in that task) (end of thread)
