idk who needs to hear this but YES, IT'S OK TO GIVE MONEY DIRECTLY TO HOMELESS PEOPLE!!!
I've done A LOT of presentations about homelessness & this is the #1 question that I've been asked.
"What should I do when someone asks for money?"
My answer? If you have the means, redistribute your wealth. Homeless people know best how to use the $ to meet their needs.

Homeless people know best. Not the government, not a nonprofit, not you or me.
It is hella paternalistic for us to decide what someone (who may be a complete stranger!) needs to survive.
The best thing is giving someone the opportunity to make decisions about their own life.
