THREAD ‼️

Around March, this account was on the path of changing...again and be less drama, less “tea” and more positivity because the sport needs that overall. But since COVID began, the true colors of many athletes, gym owners and our the industry leaders have been revealed
One of the big issues is that of the health and safety of all athletes. A coach that loves their athlete and wants the best for them should always put their safety first. Why go above and beyond to fight for worlds happening when people are dying so fast in the US by COVID?
To add to that, this industry care very little about the well being of black and brown athletes and what the face in the gym and outside. The gym/team is an escape for a lot of them and to not punish athletes for racist comments and remarks is absurd.
But guess what, gyms weren’t held accountable for nothing back then for so racism and discrimination weren’t a big deal and even today, it’s not to some coaches and athletes. Making a graphic and changing your logo means nothing if you aren’t actually doing something
Despite cheer not being given official recognition as a sport, this is something athletes do because they love it. It’s amazing! But if you take a reason why athletes are leaving early or not coming back, you’ll see that thanks need to change. Cheer expensive no doubt..
But the actual experience is not adding up to the cost for many. This is a sport with kids at the selfies age 5 (I think), lots of kids but how can gym amd coaches let abuse and pedophilia slide and not do anything impactful and yes they know about it for the most part
It’s crazy to me that gym name, popularity and fame are prioritized over the experience athletes seeks to gain from the sport. While we celebrate wins and make history, there are others who had to quit, show up for their team always and carry the weight of what happen to them
The industry needs to take this serious and create a safe space to investigate regardless of statist and contribution to the sport. It’s the year 2020 and people have becoming more vocal about their experience. Eventually, athletes both past and present will tell their story..
And will also speak on how their gym and coach didn’t take it serious, whoever did what to them was well known and respected etc. Some gym have the nerve to advertise how good their program is but a good program does not ignore racism and abuse etc. Change should be a PRIORITY✌🏽
