While we're having some hard conversations that need to be had about speed communities, raise your hand if you're part of a marginalized group that didnt feel welcome in a community because of how the members talked/acted. The point being to show you guys why image matters.
Example: banjo tooie was my first speedgame with a timer in 2015 and I chose to never submit or get more involved when I saw how they talked about women.
Some people to this day dont believe I even ran the game, and the community has improved but I never forgot. That image is part of how I see them.
Women in general in speedrunning are often overlooked. People even complain about Frame Fatales which THE POINT is to try to overcome this barrier. It's even harder for trans women.
