Things that stand out to me about Mahomes deal:
- Was set to make 27.6M over & #39;20-& #39;21, will now make only 6M more over the same yrs in exchange for 10 new yrs
- While 63M is truly guar& #39;d at signing, 27.6M of this was already guar& #39;d; he only gained 35.45M of new truly guar& #39;d $ https://twitter.com/ProFootballTalk/status/1280300065945530378">https://twitter.com/ProFootba...

- The 40.45M he& #39;ll earn in & #39;23 & 37.95M in & #39;24 are practically "truly" guar& #39;d at signing since they convert to "true" guars in & #39;21 & & #39;22 respectively, when it would be difficult for KC to cut Mahomes. The 63M truly guar& #39;d + this 78.4M, yield 141.4M practically guar& #39;d at signing
- 337.2M of his compensations comes in the form of 3rd day of the league year Roster Bonuses, while 124.8M comes via salary. Meaning, the majority of his cash flow is earned at the start of the League Year
- From & #39;25-& #39;31, he has a total of 218.8M of Roster Bonuses, each of these bonuses become "truly" guar& #39;d 2 years ahead. For example, his 2025 38.9M Roster Bonus becomes guar& #39;d for Skill, Inj, & Cap on the 3rd day of the 2023 league yr. This conversion cadence continues thru & #39;31.
- Because of the large Roster Bonus amounts that convert to true guarantees 2yrs ahead of time, it makes this deal virtually impossible for KC to terminate. So while, technically, it& #39;s a pay-as-you-go structure; practically, it would be difficult for KC to get out of.
