I was BLESSED to be able to come home before my student visa is up and when risk of traveling wasn’t as high as it is now.

but even then let me tell you, the entire 20+ hours i was traveling, i had so much anxiety and was scared to death.
i was also lucky that when i arrived all i had to do was get my temperature and blood pressure taken. no real state-mandated quarantine had been in place.

given the growing number of covid cases in the US, students will have to go through so much just to go home.
and for what? depending on the time difference some will have to take online classes while everyone is asleep. seems like a minor inconvenience? try living in another timezone for an entire semester. i lasted 2.5 months before burning out.
and here’s the thing: this benefits ABSOLUTELY NOBODY. students leave, they don’t pay rent in the US. they don’t pay for groceries. intl students contribute a lot to the economy.

forcing them to go home also minimizes chances of them coming back, and just drop out altogether.
AND this is all happening at a time when international enrollment’s already declining

international students are valuable. but our visa restricts us from being able to advocate for ourselves so i’m asking you, please vote, do something, help us.
