In today’s super disappointing news, I had to make a Twitter just to talk about how disgusted I am with @halleberry’s blatant transphobia. She recently announced she wants to play a specific character who is a trans man.
While talking about the role, she consistently misgenders the character, calling him she/her/a woman/etc. This is a cis woman not only wanting to play a trans man with no experience in that world, but someone that doesn’t even respect his character enough to gender correctly.
Additionally, she goes on to say “that’s a woman, it’s a female story.” Do you realize the dysphoria you’re dishing out to so many ACTUAL trans men with these words? It’s honestly horrifying.
To make things worse, she also says things like “I want to understand that world” and “I want to experience and explore”. Transgender existence is not a fucking science experiment to be examined, and sitting in Hollywood cutting your hair short gives you no insight to trans life.
We are not a fucking science experiment. We are not animals to be studied. I used to be a fan, but I’m truly, TRULY disappointed and disgusted in this development. Trans men deserve better, and they deserve to be represented.

Trans people are t i r e d. Stop treating transness as a fun side project to check out and then shed at the end of the day when we can’t and don’t want to.
I just saw she decided not to take the role, but still acknowledged nothing about the fact that she consistently misgendered the character so I’m not sorry for this thread tbh.
