TW: Mh
In light of Santoshi Shett, let's talk about how damaging this whole "positive vibes only" bullshit is. It puts pressure on people with mental illnesses to repress even privately, given that they may already be doing it publically. This is very much ground for dissociation
and general denial of situations that may be very much dire. I speak from experience because it took about 6 months for me to realise something was terribly wrong w my mh last year and I have lost friends over how much in denial I was simply because I fell into the trap of
always staying positive uwu ✨✨✨ I literally had a dissociative attack at a crowded junction at 10 pm and needed to be picked up from there because I had lost all sense of who I was or what I was feeling and could only feel pani, all other emotions felt alien to me.
That's a personal experience and I'm sure most people with mh issues for even 2+ years have suffered some version of this because of positivity being shoved down their throat. What makes it worse is that she's charging MONEY? This is not opportunism, it's exploitation
If you have a platform and influence, use it to guide people to resources that can actually help. Use it to destigmatize talking about things that are not easy to address instead of pretending to be a professional when there are LIVES, yes lives at stake.
It's extremely irresponsible and it's one thing to offer a shoulder to someone in their time of need and a completely different thing to charge people money with a claim to make their lives better when you are in no position to understand, diagnose or offer treatment.
Please stay safe from such bullshit. If you are willing to pay, reach out to actual therapists with multiple degrees who will charge you a similar price for actual treatment, if you just wanna talk, reach out to a friend or the many free resources available online.
