Welcome to the White House daily press shadow briefing. The questions are real, but the answers are the truth, which distinguishes this from the White House briefings. Let me make an inane opening statement. Law & Order. Ok questions.
2. Q. I want to ask you just a couple questions. The first one, why is the President so supportive of flying the Confederate flag? A. The President didn't even know there was a civil war, so this isn't a long standing position. The President is in the fight of his life and isn't
3. doing very well. The only way he thinks he can win is to tap into the very real racism that exists in this country. And since the Confederate Flag is a powerful symbol of racism he embraces it. It's only politics. He won't care after the election, although he'll still be
4. racist. Q. For clarity, I’m asking you about the Confederate flags. My question is why is the President so supportive of flying the Confederate flag? A. Because the confederate flag harkens back to a better time for Trump. Where blacks were slaves and it was cool for his
5. to be in the KKK. Q. The president said that NASCAR saw bad ratings because they took down the Confederate flag, banned the Confederate flag. Does he believe NASCAR should fly the Confederate flag, and why don’t they fly it here? A. Well, the President doesn't think
6. the ratings include black people. He knows they all come from shithole countries, are on welfare and don't buy anything. So he gets every morning a special product from Neilsen, the white only ratings. It's done just for him, just like the PDB, but this one he reads.
7. Let me ask you about some of the President’s comments this weekend. The President said that 99% of coronavirus cases are totally harmless. Which members of the White House Coronavirus Task Force agree with that statement?
A. None of them. It's a completely ridiculous and
8. false statement. No sensible person believes it, except Trump's base, an they have no sense. Q. Kelly, to follow up on Peter’s question, what is the president’s position? Does he think NASCAR made a mistake by banning the Confederate flag? A. @potus believes NASCAR is a
9. white sport for white fans. So anything they do to offend white people is by definition bad for them. Their white ratings are down. The President believes the blacks should stick to playing basketball for obvious reasons. It's better for everyone to just know their place
10. according to @realDonaldTrump Q.But let’s drill down on the Confederate flag. Does he think it was a mistake for NASCAR to ban it? A. Yes he does. He knows white people, he knows how they think, and if it offends him, it must offend most white people.
11. Does he think his supporters should not take the flag to his Trump rallies? Has he considered banning the Confederate flag from Trump rallies? A. Why would they not. The President believes strongly in freedom of expression, except if you're a black NFL football player.
12. Kayleigh, why is Bubba Wallace’s responsibility to apologize for an investigation into a noose that he didn’t report and he never even saw? It was NASCAR that found this, that reported this, and even the FBI referred to it as a noose. Even if they said it wasn’t a specific
13. crime against Mr. Wallace, why is the President even suggesting that Mr. Wallace should apologize? A. Bottom line here folks, the President is white and Mr. Wallace is black. Who you going to believe? Remember the Central Park 5? Birtherism? Mr. Wallace needs to apologize
14. according to the President. Q. He has. In the interviews, he’s been very clear that the FBI found this not intentional. A. The President was upset that it wasn't a noose. That's what really is driving this.
15. Q. Why is this being directed at Mr. Wallace, the victim of a suspected hate crime? A. Follow me here since you're not understanding. The default position of this White House is to blame the black guy. It's nothing personal, but it's something the President has believed in
16. for a long time. Q. Are you suggesting that Bubba Wallace should have to apologize for an investigation that someone else initiated. A. Yes, if he knows what's good for him. Why did they even let him in NASCAR in the first place. He doesn't belong.
17. The governor of South Dakota flew back on Air Force One after having contact with somebody who had tested positive for the virus. Why was that allowed to happen? Did she have contact with the President on the trip back, and has the President continued to test negative since
18. that interaction? A. I'm not going to get into the President's personal interactions with women on Air Force One. Not going to happen. Q. The original question is why was she allowed to fly back on Air Force One with the President when it was known that she had had contact
19 with someone who had Covid. A. Some might answer that by referring it to the Secret Service who know apparently are supposed to defend against the hidden enemy. That would be a stupid thing to say, so I'm not going to repeat it.
20.On executive orders, the President has set a [inaudible 00:08:55] on those this year. As a candidate, he had been critical of President Obama’s use of executive orders, but he seems to have really stepped up the pace on these. I wanted to ask, what does he find … What is the
21. strategy behind issuing more than one a week so far this year? I know he’s getting ready to issue more in the coming weeks. A. The strategy is to keep the press chasing these. None of them are enforceable and in fact some of them are just blank pieces of paper.
22. Q. Kayleigh, with regard to the President’s reference about the 99% being harmless, does the President worry at all that, by downplaying the severity of the virus, that it will lead Americans to be less careful? A. Actually it's worse than that. It will lead a lot of people
23. to die. His strategy is to make people think it's gone away. That's the only way he can get reelected. And people will die because of that calculation. And anyone who defends those comments is complicit in those deaths. So I won't.
24. Just to follow up on the NASCAR thing, you were saying that we’re taking the tweet out of context, but this is what he tweeted. He says, “Has Bubba Wallace apologized to all of those great NASCAR drivers and officials who came to his aid, stood by his side, and were willing
25. to sacrifice everything for him, only to find out that the whole thing was just another hoax? That and flag decision has caused lowest ratings ever.” How are we misinterpreting that? A. Any way you want. I've called him a racist, how else can I explain all this.
26. q. Hold on, hold on. Just the one thing that wasn’t clear in your response, and that’s why I asked about it again, and it follows up on Paul’s question, is why should Mr. Wallace have to apologize for that when his whole team and all of these colleagues came around him to
27. show support. A. Like I told you, he should apologize because he's black. The President believes all disputes between whites and blacks should be settled in favor of the white person. That's a core belief of his that he learned from his father. Don't even let them rent
28. apartments, Fred said to little Donny. QKayleigh, on the Confederate part, why would the President not praise NASCAR for removing the Confederate flag, particularly given the history of that flag, the symbol that it has for African Americans, and also what it represents in
29. insurrection against the Republic? Why would he not praise them for taking that down, even if it affects the ratings? A. Ok, let me give you the soundbite you're all craving. President Trump says Black Lives don't matter. Did you all get that? Should I repeat it?
30. Q.What exactly does the President see as positive or uniting about the Confederate flag? Why did he decide to tweet about it then this morning? A. It's about history to him. It's about when America was great because we had slaves. People knew their place.
31. It's just like when he talks about the day Germany attacked Pearl Harbor. But I digress. Q.The President argued on Friday and then again on Saturday that many of the problems the country faces stem from quote, “extreme indoctrination and bias in the education system.”
32. What steps is he taking to check this, and could you give us an example? A. Sure. He and Secretary DeVos have been working on a plan to desegregate our public schools. Put the investments where they belong, where you get ROI--in the white neighborhoods.
33. I have a question about masks. The President has sort of equivocated on the issue of mask, and we know that a number of Republicans are starting to say that it’s the single most important thing that Americans can do to protect each other. What is the President’s message to
34. Americans who hear those messages and say that they simply don’t want to wear a mask? What is the President’s take on it?. A. Good question because it illustrates our problem here. Wearing masks is a good way to flatten the curve on COVID and that would be good for the POTUS
35. But if everyone is wearing masks, that will remind people that COVID is still out there. The President is counting on people forgetting. So he has to choose. And like all great leaders he has the guts to choose even though he knows it will cost lives. Wartime POTUS
36. I wanted to say, first off, point of fact, Bubba Wallace did not make any kind of false report, and I’m wondering, in general, why the President thinks that issue is worth his time and focus right now in the midst of a deadly pandemic. Then, also, you’ve said he has no
37. on the Confederate flag. Why can’t this White House unambiguously state whether or not it supports displays of the Confederate flag. A. Why are we still talking about the black NASCAR racer. The President doesn't support affirmative action, although he loves nepotism.
38.Q. You said Bubba Wallace made a false report. He didn’t. A. Of course he didn't. But as I said before, who are you going to believe? Q. But why is this cultural stuff worth his time and focus during the pandemic? A. So you guys don't focus on the Pandemic. Duh!
39. Q. wo quick questions, if I may. Does the President support the Cleveland Indians and the football team here in Washington considering changing the names? A. Only if they chose something more offensive. Lot to work with on the minority front. And it sends a positive message
40. to our children, our white children. Q. The other question, who came up with the list of historical figures that the President wants honored in this garden of statutes that he put out this executive order about? Who came up with the list of people to be included there?
41. A. Have no idea although I know it wasn't the President. No way would black people have made the list if he was involved. Q. Kayleigh, the President signed the Payroll Protection Program extension over the weekend. There’s $132 billion in the pot. What does the President
42. there to help small businesses? A. Nothing. He only wants to help his corporate friends. Q. Thank you, Kayleigh, so much. As President Trump wants to reopen the country, what will be the criteria to cancel the travel bans? Because we know that the bans are still in place
43. on hot spots like Russia, India, or Mexico, for example. So what is the criteria? A. Simple, dictators and enemies of the American people get preferential treatment. Q. European countries, now the UK, are starting to open for foreign visitors, but the US is still banned.
44. How do you think the world is looking at the United States right now? A. With a mixture of pent up glee, snakiness and increasingly all out pity. Now the new way of ending the briefing is to read an impassioned screed against the President's enemies and then walk off.
45. Today's screed will be...never mind...you guys just laugh at them anyway, See ya.
